The West African Bird Study Association (WABSA), establish a ringing Scheme. in 2018 couple of ringers were introduced to WABSA by the head of the Research unit
2020 with funding support from the African Bird Club and Merlin Ringing Supplies, and additional support from APLeventis Ornithological Research Institute Nigeria. In January the ringing training took place in Tanji Bird Reserve, The trainees were train how to put on nets ,extract bird from nets ,Put ring on bird ,Checking moult ,fat, age, measure of wing , bill ,etc. During the four-week intensive training more than 500 birds were ringed , and the rings used were SAFRINGS
